Promenades in Malaga

After a leisurely breakfast we explored the park by the side of the hotel. Very architectural, it uses water, sculptures and structural elements to provide pretty views. There were lots of areas of interest to children with huge fish, australian animals and play areas.

We did a bit of prospecting for restaurants and then picked up a taxi from the hotel to the centre of Malaga. In the centre, we walked past the Cathedral with its famous, unfinished second tower into the main shopping area. To get a photo of this we had to wait until we were some distance away at the port.

As it was Saturday, the town centre was busy

We strolled through the botanical gardens which is between the city and the port.

Since we were last on Malaga in 2009, the port area has been redeveloped, providing playgrounds for children of all ages

walking

and shopping and eating

There are good views of the oldest parts of Malaga

We then walked to the Modern Art gallery where we ate a large, late lunch. The menus are all so interesting and varied that it is easy to over order when sharing. We had roast potatoes with dips, Spanish omelette, Russian salad with langoustines, pear tortellini, ham and gorgonzola fried rolls. Then we took a taxi back to the hotel for a rest before dinner.
In the evening we walked along the promenade, stopping for a drink in a beach cafe before finding a splendid restaurant full of locals. We ate battered aubergines, razor fish, prawns, clams and James had an enormous steak that would have fed a family, perfectly cooked and very tender.
