Stockholm

Ryanair fly to a number of destinations from Béziers airport, one of them being Stockholm and so this had been on our list for a while.

We set off for the airport from the village by bus early on Saturday morning. During the week, this would be full of school children, but on Saturday, we had it to ourselves. After breakfast in Béziers, we took the airport bus from the centre to the airport ready for our flight. We were amazed at the fare: 1.5 euros each! That's certainly the cheapest airport bus we have ever used.

The flight was trouble free and our hotel was within walking distance of the shuttle us terminal in Stockholm. After a rest, we set off for an excellent dinner at a restaurant recommended by our hotel and then continued towards the old part of Stockholm, Gamla Stan, passing the Riksdagshuset (parliament) which stands on a small island.

The wandered through the old town until after 10pm when it was still light.

The Royal Palace

This modernised square doesn't look quite so good in the daytime and is a bit of a blot on the architectural landscape.
